Types of Pets Seen - Because of their vast experience, the veterinarians at Animal Care Hospital can care for many types of pets:
All anesthesia has some risk. To minimize this we do several things:
Pain management is part of our routine pre-surgical protocol and is not elective. Pain is best treated before it occurs and all patients are given an injection before surgery and local anesthetics are frequently used to prevent post-op pain.
Dentistry, Orofacial , & Sinus Surgery is a focus of our practice. Dr. Stephen Galloway is a Dental Specialist and regularly lectures world-wide. He is a Diplomate of the College of Veterinary Dentistry. Please see our Dental Pages or for Specialty care visit https://animaldentalcarespecialists.com/
Radiology - We utilize digital radiology for general and dental imaging.
Ultrasound - The Ultrasound allows us to non-invasively examine the architecture of internal organs. We can evaluate the bladder for stones, evaluate pregnancy and look for masses or other problems in the abdomen.
Complete laboratory - In order to get rapid testing feedback, the clinic laboratory can perform blood counts, blood gas & chemistry analysis, fecal & urine analysis, heartworm tests, and selected viral tests. Tests not routinely performed are sent to an outside laboratory, with results usually available the next day.
Grooming - Available by appointment. Call for details.
Boarding- Board your pet in our indoor temperature controlled kennel or our Cat Condo. Dogs are walked three times daily and all pets receive daily affection.
Appointments - Our appointment book is computerized, allowing us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. The Animal Care Hospital team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability, and emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. Should you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
Emergency & Urgent Care - We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days (select Saturdays) a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life from such things as snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

We have been patients of Dr. Galloway for over 12 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. While we were building a new house in Oakland, we lived in Cordova for over a year and happily drove back to see Dr. Galloway. They are always so good at taking the time to explain things.
